LMS Test.Lab Selected for Superior Productivity, System Flexibility and Integration with Virtual Simulation
LMS International announced today that Mercury Marine, the leading manufacturer of marine propulsion systems, has selected LMS Test.Lab as its new standard solution for noise and vibration engineering. LMS delivered multiple systems for lab and in-field testing at Mercury based on the LMS Test.Lab data acquisition and analysis software and the LMS SCADAS III data acquisition front-end.
According to company representatives, Mercury Marine selected LMS Test.Lab for its superior ease of use and productivity, its strong data management and reporting capabilities, and the flexibility of its data acquisition platform. Mercury Marine also strongly valued the extensive offering of LMS in the field of virtual prototype simulation for noise and vibration.
Mercury Marine is the world’s leading manufacturer of marine propulsion systems, offering outboard engines, as well as gasoline and diesel sterndrive and inboard systems. Since it was founded 65 years ago, Mercury has set the standard for the marine industry and has consistently emphasized quality, innovation and reliability. Its research and development organization, which is a key ompetitive advantage in the marketplace, is charged with developing game-changing innovations and bringing products to market faster than any of its competitors. In selecting a new platform for noise and vibration engineering, Mercury Marine logically looked for a system with state-of-the-art capabilities, ease of use, structured data management capabilities and growth possibilities in terms of virtual simulation and testing application reach.
Based on these requirements, Mercury Marine acquired multiple LMS Test.Lab licenses and LMS SCADAS III data acquisition systems. The new LMS testing systems will be used in its structures and NVH labs, supporting a myriad of structural, vibration and acoustic tests. According to Dan Schlagenhaft – Mercury’s Manager of NVH and Dynamics CAE/CAT – Mercury chose the mobile LMS SCADAS 305 system because it allows the use of the same testing systems in both laboratory and field environments, and it affords Mercury engineers the flexibility to configure their testing system for individual tests, mixing and matching different signal conditioning and data acquisition channels.
“LMS offers a complete, productive and flexible solution for our current and future needs in noise and vibration engineering,” Schlagenhaft said. “Throughout our extensive evaluation, we particularly valued the solid experience of LMS in this field, the quality of its technical support organization, and the complete offering of LMS, including its solution in virtual prototype simulation.”
Filip Pintelon, Corporate Vice President and General Manager Test Division at LMS said he is excited to be working with Mercury. “We are very pleased with the selection of LMS Test.Lab by Mercury Marine,” he said. “We look forward to supporting their development teams as they design and build innovative marine products that comply with the most stringent noise and vibration requirements.”
