Mechatronic Simulation introduction

Simulate real life faster and more accurately

Mechatronic simulation is the engineering of products before you have a concrete definition of the geometric shape, before the style or the design. It takes the engineering process one step upstream by letting engineers make decisions from an architectural point of view.

The engineering process starts by modeling the actual or expected functional behavior of physical components and control strategies. This is what gets referred to as “lump parameter” models.

These models are used to analyze a system’s overall behavior, and appropriately influence the design. You could also describe mechatronic simulation as engineering from a purely numerical point of view. In that regard, mechatronic simulation gives engineers the power to make decisions way before the geometry, design and styling. And as more and more controls are becoming part of the mechatronic systems, mechatronic simulation can solve the puzzle of how to integrate controls engineering and early stage simulation. It actually moves expensive late stage detection of control issues upstream in the design process.

Today, LMS International is taking simulation a step further to help its customers face new and tough challenges, like energy management and emission reduction, as well as the almost exponential explosion of electronics and controls in a variety of products, such as intelligent vehicles. The LMS International mission today is to continue to be the undisputed leader for empowering innovation -- not only the mechanical side, but also a process that bridges into the world of controls and mechatronics. With solutions for mechatronic simulation and 3D analysis supported by expert engineering services, LMS is ready to lead the mechatronic simulation market. These innovative new LMS tools and processes will be the ones customers count on to make the smarter and greener products of the future.
