LMS International, the worldwide leader in Testing systems, CAE software and engineering services for functional performance engineering, concluded a multiyear co-development contract with Jiangling Motor Corporation in China. The contract encompasses multiple projects that target considerable improvements in the NVH performance of several Jiangling-Ford and Jiangling-Isuzu vehicles. LMS will support the Chinese vehicle manufacturer in further optimizing pass-by noise and interior comfort of its vehicles in order to comply with ever-stringent legal standards and customer requirements. During the projects, LMS will also further develop and extend Jiangling’s vehicle engineering expertise. This major co-development contract in China is the result of LMS’s active strategy to expand its engineering operations in China’s fast growing automotive market.
Throughout the co-development projects, LMS Engineering will work with Jiangling engineers to optimize the NVH performance of multiple Jiangling vehicles, based on an Isuzu pickup and light truck and a Ford Transit. The contract of these turnkey projects stipulates the contractual commitment of LMS to guarantee that the pass-by noise characteristics of these vehicles will comply with Chinese legislation. At the same time, LMS will reduce the vehicles’ interior noise levels and improve their comfort standards.
Next to executing prototype modifications, LMS will communicate with Jiangling’s suppliers to assist these parties in producing components and subsystems with the right NVH characteristics. The involved technology transfer from LMS to Jiangling envisages a much broader spectrum than the scope of the ongoing projects, as LMS engineers also introduce effective integrated CAE-driven vehicle development processes.
Xiao Liling, Vice President of Jiangling’s Product Development Center, commented, “Over the last twenty-five years, LMS built up extensive expertise by participating in co-development projects with the majority of the world’s leading automotive OEMs. The credibility gained through its worldwide engineering operations convinced Jiangling to partner with LMS and to optimize the NVH performance of the vehicles we bring to the Chinese market.”
Dirk De Vis, Vice President of LMS Engineering Services, stated, “LMS has the outstanding full vehicle and multiattribute engineering capability to accomplish all Jiangling’s targets and the experience to efficiently share its technological expertise with the engineering teams of Jiangling. This important co-development contract is a strategic step in LMS’s expansion in China’s emerging automotive market.”
