Mission: Accelerating the Development Process

On February 25, 1999, Instron Schenck Testing Systems (IST), LMS International and TEAM Corporation joined forces to create The Durability Alliance, a strategic partnership to provide integrated solutions that accelerate and improve the quality of durability engineering in all phases of product development. With the formation of this alliance, the founding companies have agreed to integrate and streamline their products and services for durability engineering on a global basis, and coordinate future developments.

The portfolio of solutions from the members of The Durability Alliance includes best of class products for physical testing: IST's systems for physical simulation, including RS LabSite‚ software with their family of digital Labtronic controllers; the TEAM Corporation's CUBE‘; LMS CADA-X‘ systems and software for multichannel measurement and test rig control - LMS TWR; and LMS TecWare software for load data processing and fatigue analysis. Solutions for virtual prototype engineering include LMS FALANCS for predictive durability analysis, and LMS TecWare and LMS DADS for 'virtual test track' prototyping.

Dr. Urbain Vandeurzen, LMS Chairman, President and CEO, commented, "With The Durability Alliance we have created an innovative partnership between three companies that already individually provide world class solutions for physical testing, as well as virtual prototype simulation and engineering. The alliance creates a unique combination of products and services to design-in and refine all aspects of durability, from concept development to product delivery." Adds Dr. Klaus Dressler, Managing Director of LMS Durability Technologies, "This partnership underlines our commitment to support the durability engineering process both with test-based and CAE-based methods. Together with our partners we are providing best of class software for load data processing, customer loads correlation, accelerated testing and fatigue life prediction perfectly integrated with complete test rig solutions."

Mr. Ian MacGregor, President of IST added, "The Durability Alliance strategically strengthens our relations with LMS and TEAM. We are convinced that together we deliver the most complete and, in each part, the most advanced durability engineering solution. LMS data processing and test rig control software are central to our forward product development for physical simulation systems. This will greatly enhance our RS LabSite‚ offering, and make for seamless integration of physical testing with the total durability development process."

"The partnership with IST and LMS in The Durability Alliance opens new avenues for Team to strengthen its product offering and global presence", concluded Mr. Bob Tauscher, President of Team Corporation. "The combination of IST’s Labtronic 8800 Controller and LMS data processing and control software with our CUBE‘ makes for the best high frequency testing solution. Providing 6 degrees of control in a compact package, this system can precisely reproduce road loading at frequencies up to 250Hz for cost effective and flexible durability, comfort and high-mileage NVH testing."

Customers of the alliance partners have reacted positively to the formation of The Durability Alliance. Comments Dr. Dirk Hartmann, Chassis Development Manager at the DaimlerChrysler Technology Center in Sindelfingen, "We have worked together with IST and LMS a long time and have used their products with great success. We welcome the announcement of this partnership, and have great expectations that the resulting integration and innovations will help us to dramatically improve the efficiency of our critical processes."

Instron Schenck Testing Systems, (IST) is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Instron Corporation formed from a joint venture company in 1996 between two of the world-wide industry leaders in materials and structural testing - Instron Corporation of Canton, MA, USA and Carl Schenck AG of Darmstadt, Germany. IST brings together engineering expertise in the United States, Germany and England to provide innovative cost-effective solutions for structural testing applications.

Team Corporation, based in Burlington, Washington, is a recognized leader and innovator in the field of single and multi-axis servo-hydraulic vibration testing systems.
